A Mary Book Haul

Both Marys are avid readers. In fact, many of our earlier letters would detail the books we were reading. When the idea for a co-authored book first made it’s way into my brain, I mentioned how our book would inevitably involve titles of books we’d read. That didn’t happen, but maybe that is fodder for a future book.

As I’ve mentioned before, of the two of us, I (Mary PK) am the more apt to purchase books. While my husband was alive, I also attended every library book sale within a 50-mile radius. Still, it isn’t often I go on a book-buying binge, but occasionally a coupon code or good sale comes up that I just can’t resist. That was the case with this order through Book Outlet;

Briefly Noted: Two Letterpressed Notebooks
A Greeting Card Collection (Nature, with butterflies and hummingbirds!)
Heaven on Earth: A Guided Journal
I’ll See You Again
2 Inspirational Art Journals
It Must Have Been Moonglow: Reflections on the First Years of Widowhood
Opening Heaven’s Door: What the Dying May Be Trying to Tell Us About Where They’re Going
The House on Teacher’s Lane: A Memoir of Home, Healing, and Love’s Hardest Questions
Wild: 10 Notecards with Envelopes

The Art Journals (I bought two) went to my daughters Emily and Katie, the greeting cards and notecards were added to my stationery baskets, and the books were added to my to-read pile. I finished the heartbreaking memoir I’ll See You Again quickly, but couldn’t get into the other one, The House on Teacher’s Lane, and ended up skimming through the last half. Both rated a two out of five on my Goodreads account.

I also collect signed copies of books by my favorite authors, which is why I purchased another book last week, Heather Gudenkauf’s Missing Pieces.  I should have known better than to start it at 6:00 in the evening, because I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Needless to say, I got to bed late that night. Heather’s book rated a solid 5 out of 5 stars. Fans of Jodi Picoult will love this!
